A little help.
Back to your flow.

EveryFind is a file-name search utility for macOS 14 and later. It builds a local index of folders you select and authorize. It does not search document contents.

Guides, answers, and a way to reach us.

Getting started

  1. Choose your folders

Add and authorize a folder in Settings → Search Locations.

  2. Let the index finish

Keep the location available while its first index is built.

  3. Start with a file name

Enter a keyword, then use filters to narrow your results.

Search syntax

Project ext:pdf !backup
ProjectFile-name keywordext:pdfPDF files only!backupExclude backup

Use Project ext:pdf !backup to find PDFs with Project in their file names while excluding results whose names or paths contain backup. Use type:file or type:folder to filter files or folders.

Common questions

No results on first use

Add and authorize the folder in Settings under Search Locations, then allow initial indexing to finish. Check that the location is enabled, that the files are not excluded, and that any external or network storage is connected. Rebuild the index manually if needed.

The shortcut does not show the window

The default shortcut is Control-F and works only while EveryFind is running. Change it in Settings under General to avoid conflicts with other apps.

Logs & privacy

The Index page in Settings can reveal the local log in Finder. Logs may contain paths and are not uploaded automatically. See the Privacy Policy for information about indexing, folder permissions, and managing data.
